Project Goals
The clients wanted to update their living/dining room to a transitional/modern look that would be conducive to entertaining with friends and family. Their goal was to provide seating for 8 people in both the seating and dining areas. Any more would be a bonus. They wanted a light & open look, and liked neutral colors with blue and gold tones as accents. They also had an appreciation for more unique designs in furnishings and accents.
The foundational tones were made up of the gorgeous wood plank flooring and freshly painted walls in a soft neutral. We met their goals of "unique" furnishings with a 100" × 44" solid, polished sandstone dining table, a custom designed statement chest on the large wall between the two areas to anchor the space, and two very special chairs with carved fretwork designs on the outer sides & backs.
These features played beautifully off of the soft and neutral sofa/loveseat, and the shapely design of the dining chairs. We anchored the seating area by placing two, front-to-back cocktail tables in a strong wood tone and geometric design. We carefully repeated the gold and blue accents throughout the space by including them in the rugs, artwork, accents, table base, and pillows. Hints of crystal, along with some unique metals throughout, add to the individuality and sophistication of the space.

We added canned lights for improved overall lighting, as well as lamps for improved task and mood lighting. Throughout this inviting Living/Dining room, the scale, color, and textures play off one another to create a space that is both functional and beautiful.
