Award Project Reveal: Longleaf Primary Bathroom

Summary

It's the light and openness of this Primary Bathroom that draws you into the space, but it's the elevated textures and finishes of the Carrara marble, subtle gold fixtures, and rich cabinetry that combine to make you want to stay a while.

Project Goals

The previous state of this Primary Bath couldn't have been farther from the clients wishes for appearance or function. The space had been broken up into several odd, small areas. There were so many walls dividing up what otherwise would have been a large space, that the shower, WC, and bathing areas felt small & cramped. Additionally, the Tuscan arches and builder grade finishes resembled nothing of the elevated & open look they were wanting to achieve.

We began by removing all of the interior walls to open up the space. Because of this, we were able to relocate the shower & WC to more accessible and spacious locations. With this new, larger shower space we could now accommodate the dual shower heads, rain head, and bench area they requested. This also opened up a large and inviting area for the freestanding tub they hoped to have.

We met the clients' requests for hamper, jewelry, and towel storage within the custom designed cabinetry opposite the dual vanities.

To elevate the look & feel of the space, we specified Carrara marble floors, mosaics, and baseboards to contrast the rich finish of the cabinetry. The large, tile "rug" between the cabinetry was designed not only to add interest, but to bridge the area between the cabinetry and to bring visual balance by grounding the space.

We finished off the look with subtle gold finishes on the fixtures, crystal accents on the knobs, a sophisticated chandelier to bring prominence to the tub area, and an inviting chair to convey the relaxing vibe of this room. As an added feature, we designed some of the cabinets to have glass doors with lights which would act as a nightlight-of-sorts, as well as adding to the soft and moody ambience. The result is the clients dream bathroom... the best response ever.
