Project Goals

Our goal with this project was to open up the space, modernize the feel, and design a better flow for the requested "new" task areas. The clients wanted a dressing area, a logical place to mount a TV, increased shower space, and a solution for the very awkward WC space.

Our solution was to relocate the WC from its prime location in the very center of the room, to the more appropriate, out of the way location where the shower had been located. By switching these two areas, we were able to provide additional ventilation for the WC by placing it next to an existing window, remove the focal point in the space away from the toilet, and to provide a much-needed larger shower. We also removed one of the two closet doors (which was never used) to create additional wall space for our TV.

To open the space, we removed the tub completely and replaced it with a floating bench that defined the new dressing area. Our very simple color palette of bright whites used in the paint and the 3-dimensional wall tile combined beautifully with our rift cut white oak on the cabinetry. We also replaced the closet and WC doors with a simple shaker style, inset with a top to bottom frosted glass panel. This detail brought light, texture, and interest to the modern space while still providing privacy.

To modernize the feeling of the space, we used slab doors on the cabinetry, a thick profile edge on the bright white quartz counters, a single, large tower-to-tower mirror, modern light fixtures, and a simple, monochromatic tile design for the shower and flooring.

The result is a Primary Bath that the clients love more than they ever imagined!
